Tana Water Works Development Agency (TWWDA) service standard has reached the international level by meeting the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System standard and being certified. Any form of achievement is attained through hard work, commitment and self sacrifice and the staff at TWWDA have not fallen short of this. I take this opportunity to applaud the TWWDA staff for embracing the Quality Management System as a critical means of ensuring quality service delivery to our customers. The long intense journey that we celebrate today began in mid 2007 and the actual certification was on 6th July 2012.
This achievement has leveraged TWWDA as an internationally competitive institution and affirms to its customers, development partners and stakeholders that it has put in place the necessary Quality Management Systems that will deliver customer satisfaction and strive to exceed their expectations while adhering to prudent management practices. The decision to fast track ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System certification was intended to affirm our commitment to continual improvement of service delivery to our customers and stakeholders. Indeed, our desire is to achieve efficiency in all our key activities to deliver our mandate. This certification is therefore as a result of well articulated and purposeful effort by all to ensure quality service.
The ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System certification is a great achievement for the TWWDA and is a living testimony of its commitment to quality service delivery which is anchored on continual improvement based on internationally recognized standards that allow processes and systems that work in timely and ensure high quality services. The challenge which I am confident we are equal to is how to sustain the ISO certification through continual improvement.
Once again, my sincere gratitude goes to the Board for their unwavering support and providing an enabling environment through provision of requisite resources and encouragement, all staff at TWWDA for their dedication, commitment, devotion for better service delivery and the desire to achieve our objectives. May I also commend the ISO steering committee and internal quality audit team, KEBS and Sleek Management Consultancy Ltd for their immense contribution. We now have ISO 9001:2008 standard, quality manual, quality policy, six quality management (compulsory) procedures and forty seven standard operating proce.
